infrared sauna faqs

who can sauna?

we want everyone to be able to use the saunas at yue float, but there a few restrictions in terms of hygiene, health and safety. it is your responsibility to notify yue float of all medical conditions and medications.

is it safe?

research has shown that infrared saunas should be a safer and more effective alternative to a conventional sauna. the overall temperature is much lower providing a more comfortable sauna experience for the user. infrared has been used in hospitals to keep newborn babies warm and an increasing number of yoga studios are using infrared heaters for their classes. infrared is all around us and essential for human life. some infrared saunas have attracted comments about their generating electromagnetic fields, but the clearlight saunas we use have the lowest electromagnetic field levels, virtually zero.

are there side effects?

despite being at a much lower temperature compared to conventional saunas, infrared saunas still pose the low level risks of a typical sauna, primarily a risk of dehydration. drink water before, during and after your session to stay hydrated.

if left untreated, dehydration can quickly progress into something much more serious, such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. heat stroke occurs when the body is no longer able to cool itself down after being exposed to excessive heat over a period of time. heat stroke can cause serious repercussions including death.
it is therefore vital that you exit the infrared sauna immediately if you feel any of the beginning warning signs of heatstroke including nausea, headache, fainting, dizziness or rapid heart beat.

will i sweat?

some people who are used to saunas and/or sweating a lot, will sweat from close to the start of their session, all the way through to the end. others who are not used to it or do not sweat readily, may take a bit of time and for the temperature to increase before beginning to sweat. but eventually, you should sweat, and sweat a lot.
